What is The Good Bread Project?
Put simply, The Good Bread Project celebrates goodness by gifting freshly baked sourdough bread. One gift of bread leads to another and then another with the hope of creating a little ripple of goodness across Geelong.
How did The Good Bread Project start?
One day I found myself with too many loaves of bread (a common occurrence), so I asked my sister to give me the details of a friend who could use a loaf of freshly baked sourdough. She gave me the address of a close friend who was on the good side of one of life’s great battles. I left a loaf of bread on her doorstep and asked her to send me the details of one of her friends who could also use a kind gesture. So she did, more bread was delivered and it was clear to see that the simple act of gifting fresh bread brought much happiness.
And so, The Good Bread Project was born.
How does the Good Bread Project work?
The Good Bread Project works in two ways….
- Pay it forward – Two loaves of bread are delivered in the Geelong area every Friday morning (I leave them on the recipient’s doorsteps) and then those two recipients nominate someone they’d like to gift bread to, explaining the reason why, and so on… The project is funded by me, there is no exchange of money.
- Bread is gifted. For a small contribution, you can have freshly baked sourdough delivered to someone who is doing great things or who simply needs their day brightened a little.
